Journalist hacked to death in Gazipur

Unidentified miscreants hacked a journalist to death in the Chandana Chowrasta area in Gazipur city tonight.

The victim is Asaduzzaman Tuhin, 40, staff reporter of the daily Pratidiner Kagoj, said police.

“He [Tuhin] was working with us as a staff reporter for around five years,” said Khairul Alam Rafiq, editor of the newspaper based in Mymensingh.

Quoting witness, Shaheen Khan, officer-in-charge of Basan Police Station, said Tuhin got into an altercation with some 4-5 youths at a tea stall near the Mosque Market in the Chandana Chowrasta area around 8:00pm.

At one point, the youths stabbed Tuhin with a knife. He died on the spot, the OC said.

On information, police went to the scene and recovered the body.

“The victim is a journalist. We recovered the body and sent it to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy,” said Sub-Inspector Zahirul Islam of Basan Police Station.
